Julia Bock-Schappelwein at the networking evening of the AMS

14.11.2018

At the Labour Market Service's information and networking evening, the focus was on work and training in times of digitalisation.

On the occasion of the European Employer's Day 2018, the European Public Employment Service Network and AMS Austria organised an information and networking evening with the focus on digitalisation and the labour market. WIFO labour market economist Julia Bock-Schappelwein took part as panelist.

The information and networking evening of Arbeitsmarktservice Österreich and European Public Employment Service Network focused on the topic of work and education in times of digitalisation. WIFO labour market economist Julia Bock-Schappelwein discussed with Peter Hanke (City Councillor for Finance, Economics, Digitisation and International Affairs), Johannes Kopf (Managing Director of AMS Austria), Petra Draxl (Managing Director of AMS Vienna), Berend Tusch (Chairman of Vida, Austrian Transport and Services Union) and Walter Wohlklinger (Managing Director of Blue Danube Robotics GmbH). She pointed out that an assessment of the changes in the world of work should not only look to the future. In addition, the recent past and the current situation on the labour market needs to be considered, which the WIFO researcher underpinned with recent research results. She also emphasised that the increasing importance of digitisation on the labour market requires an efficient system of education and training for children, adolescents and adults.
