Individual data obtained from the Federation of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions (Hauptverband) and the Public Employment Service (AMS) are processed in close collaboration between the requisite experts and computer specialists at WIFO working within the INDI-DV Team which meets in regular intervals.
The individual data supplied by the Hauptverband include insurance spells (including employment and unemployment periods, periods qualifying for old-age pension and contributions to social insurance) for the period from 1972 to 2015; those provided by the AMS (especially registration data) cover the period from 1998 to 2015. Both data sets map (with some limitations) the totality of those employed, unemployed, etc., on a day-to-day basis. Updates are made twice a year.
In 2000 WIFO set up the INDI-DV team which is charged with handling mass administrative data. It is responsible for establishing and developing a data infrastructure and creating a project-specific methodology. The team is made up of economists and computer specialists, supported by scientific assistants.

Additional data are linked with the Hauptverband and AMS data as and when required for specific projects.
The individual data processed by WIFO comprise employee and employer data which are linked through career spells. They furnish a key aspect to labour market analyses and are frequently analysed together.
