The multifunctional concept of green infrastructure is important for integrative urban development approaches in smart cities. The establishment of an urban green infrastructure can increase public health in a cost-efficient way by enhancing ecological quality. The criteria of the functionality of green infrastructure yet differs depending on social group and type of stakeholder but this has hardly been investigated to date. The project analyses how collective imaginations of green infrastructure are socially specific and assesses their ecosystem services including health impacts. In doing this, the project pursues three goals: (1) to acknowledge social differences in the imagination of urban futures, (2) to develop a holistic understanding of green infrastructure in urban planning, (3) to contribute to desirable, sustainable urban futures in the sense of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by developing inclusive green infrastructure scenarios using innovative participatory methods. A case study Vienna will be conducted. The project is managed by the Regional Centre of Expertise Graz-Styria (University of Graz) and carried out in cooperation with the Center for Public Health (Medical University of Vienna).
