Susanne Bärenthaler-Sieber is a Senior Economist at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) and has been working
in the research group " Industrial, Innovation and International Economics " since 2004. Previously, she worked in the economics
department of the Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR). Her main research interests
are in the fields of digital transformation, especially broadband and digital platforms, industrial policy, competitiveness,
and international economics. She has participated in or led several national and international projects on these topics and
is the author of numerous publications in these fields. For example, she worked on redefining the concept of competitiveness
as part of the "WWWforEurope" project funded by the EU's 7th Framework Programme. Susanne Bärenthaler-Sieber also worked for
many years as an expert and member of the organisation team of the Research Centre International Economics (FIW) and was in
charge of the publication "Austria's External Economic Relations" from 2007 to 2010. Most recently, she worked on projects
evaluating the Broadband Strategy 2020 and led projects on Austria's broadband demand deficit and the use of digital platforms
in Austrian companies. Susanne Bärenthaler-Sieber studied economics at the University of Vienna and taught industrial policy
at the Vienna University of Technology.
