Michael Paffermayr is Professor of Economics at the University of Innsbruck. His research interests include International
Economics, Regional Economics, empirical Industrial Organisation and Applied Econometrics. Michael Paffermayr studied at the
Universities of Vienna and Linz, holding a doctorate in Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Linz. Before
getting his professorship at the University of Innsbruck he worked as Senior Economist at WIFO, where he also holds a part-time
position as a researcher. Michael Paffermayr extensively worked and published in the area of International Economics and Regional
Economics dealing with topics such as international trade and trade policy, foreign direct investment and regional growth.
He has also published papers in Spatial Econometrics and Panel Econometrics. Currently, he works on a project to empirically
assess the potential trade and welfare effects of Brexit for UK's and EU's manufacturing industries and on the estimation
of structural gravity models.
